NATIVITY EVENING & CHRISTMAS BUDDY BAG SCHEME

Dear Parents

NATIVITY EVENING and CHRISTMAS BUDDY BAG SCHEME

You are invited to attend our annual Nativity Evening on Friday, 9 November. The service will take place in the school hall from 18:00 to 19:00. It will be conducted by the Grade Three children and we
have decided to use a new and exciting format for the Nativity Scene. Come and join us! The Jolly Jammers will perform whilst some children will have the honour of playing their instrument accompanied by Steinway Artist, Charl du Plessis and his Trio.

The evening will not include a picnic as in previous years. Traditionally, each child was asked to bring a wrapped gift to the Nativity Evening. This year we have opted to support Isinkwa (Bread for a Buddy). Isinkwa have put together a Christmas Buddy Bag scheme. This initiative is voluntary and it will replace the wrapped gifts and Christmas shoe boxes which were previously filled by our children and parents.

Families within the school may choose to fill more than one bag. These bags will be distributed by the
Isinkwa team before Christmas.

The process will be as follows:
Bags can be obtained from Mrs Bain or from the school office from Wednesday, 31 October.
  • Inside each bag will be a list of required content like soap, facecloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, body cream etc. (a list is attached to the bag).
  • Filled bags may be returned to Mrs Bain or the school office by 9 November.
  • Alternatively, they may be brought to the Nativity Evening and be placed at the foot of our Christmas tree.
  • Please return any unfilled bags before school closes in December.
Thank you to Brenda Hattingh for the donation of the bags. The Isinkwa projects for November and December will include:
Unwanted stationery. This may be placed in collection boxes outside each classroom.
  • School shoes and takkies. These may be donated at our final assembly.
On behalf of the school community, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Isinkwa team of parents for their hard work throughout the year. Without them the support of the disenfranchised of our community would not be possible.

Warm regards

MRS. D. WALDRON
