ANNUAL TUITION FEE ADJUSTMENT FOR 2103
With the amalgamation of the three Campuses at the beginning of the year the
budgeting process for 2013 has presented additional challenges. The overarching
intention is to centralize and streamline the “non-educational” functions, thereby
introducing efficiencies across the Group. This will allow the respective Heads more
time to concentrate on the core function of our School – the provision of holistic
and excellent educational to our pupils.
The budget emerged from a robust consultation process with the manager of every
cost-centre in the school, negotiation over reducing costs and input from the
Executive Committee (including the Heads) and the respective Finance Committees.
Comprehensive market analysis has been undertaken to ensure we remain
competitive in the education sector. We are also very aware of the need to attract
the best teachers available and to maintain our superior facilities, so as to provide
multiple opportunities for personal growth and development.
It is important to bring to your attention that, contrary to our competitors, our fees
INCLUDE many of the items that are charged separately at other schools – such as
text books, art material, subject stationery, subject outings, pupil counseling, drug
free testing at the College, School Magazines, internet charges and so on. These
“extras” can amount to a substantial amount of money, which would need to be
paid over and above their published fees. These are included at Kyalami Schools.
There are a few extra charges for certain grades and these are:

External examination costs for Grades 9 and 12 each year -these are determined by
the IEB.

As indicated to you in our circular at the end of Term 2 we have been able to keep
the fee increase in each grade below 10%. A summary of the respective term and
annual fees applicable for 2013 is detailed below:

Term fees are payable on or before the first day of each of the three terms, and
Annual fees are payable on or before the first day of the school year.
I wish to thank all involved, and especially the Finance Committees of each of the
three Campuses for their commitment during the budgeting process. I am confident
that we have set Kyalami Schools on a firm footing and although the complete
integration of The Group may take time, the way ahead is clearly mapped out for us
to maintain our position as one of the top independent schools in Gauteng.
